Warm and spicy mince

This is a super-tasty low fat, high protein warmer-upper for these still cold days!


  • 500g beef steak mince – extra lean
  • 50g red onion (chopped)
  • 100g green pepper (chopped)
  • 400g can chopped tomatoes
  • 2tbsp (30g) tomato puree
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tbsp (5g) garlic puree
  • ½ tsp dried chilli flakes
  • 1tsp Paprika
  • 25g Beef gravy granules
  • Black pepper – freshly ground


  1. Chop the onion and green pepper into roughly 1cm chunks
  2. Put the mince in a large saucepan and dry-fry for 5 mins, stir if need be to break up the mince
  3. Add the chopped onion and green pepper to the mince and cook for a couple more minutes to let them soften
  4. After a couple minutes add the tinned tomatoes, garlic, oregano, paprika, crushed chills and tomato puree
  5. Simmer for approx 8-10 minutes until the peppers have softened
  6. Add the gravy granules (or use a stock cube and rice flour to thicken) along with some salt and ground black pepper to taste
